Since the St. George Church Preservation Society (SGCPS) is a volunteer organization, all ongoing expenses (postage, printing, networking, web site, accounting, etc.) are paid from the proceeds of fund-raising events and revenue from the items in the St. George Store.
With input from our major donors, these projects have been funded:
WWII MONUMENT
On Veterans Day, 2023, we announced our partnership with Mary, Queen of Peace Parish to repair and restore the St. George WWII plaque that was once located on the front of St. George Church. A plan was developed to place the plaque on a new monument in the St. George section of St. John Vianney cemetery in Carrick. A dedicated parishioner from the Class of 66 volunteered to perform the extensive repairs and restoration of the plaque. SGCPS had a large brick monument constructed where the restored plaque is now displayed.
On July 6, 2024, we organized a dedication ceremony to honor the 1017 veterans whose names are inscribed on the monument. Everyone, including the descendants of the parishioners who are named on the plaque, can now honor those who served. With approval of our major donors, proceeds from the SGCPS restoration fund were used to cover the costs of the plaque restoration, monument construction and dedication ceremony.

STATUE OF ST. GEORGE
We were happy to announce that the statue of St. George that was originally placed on the Schramm Hall gym in 1957 is now displayed on the Alla Famiglia Restaurant at 800 Warrington Ave. (formerly the Hilltop Theater, Autenreith 5&10, Golden Dawn Supermarket, Shwartz's Market) The statue was removed from Schramm Hall when the building was sold in 2013. It was rescued by a faithful parishioner, Gary Lindner (1951-2017). Gary's family donated the statue to SGCPS in 2017. SGCPS coordinated and funded the repair, restoration and mounting of the statue which was installed on December 28, 2025. We are thankful to Jonathan Vlasic, owner of Alla Famiglia, for providing a prominent place for the St. George statue in the Allentown neighborhood.
